Found a Winning Business Opportunity? 10 Questions to Ask

By Jemma Rivera

There are a multitude of different business opportunities available to people in the U.S., Australia and New Zealand. In fact, there are so many that it can be hard to decide on one which is right for your needs. If you want to get involved in a business, you need to keep in mind that there are risks involved. You need to find opportunities where the benefits outweigh the risks.

So how can you tell if a business opportunity offers an acceptable level of risk versus benefits? The following checklist can help you to determine if a business opportunity is right for you.

1. Does this business offer a product or service which is useful and of high quality, or just something which has been put together simply to make money?

2. Is there demand for this product? Do you see other people needing this product? If you wouldn't consider buying it, other people might not either.

3. Is the business in a sector which is growing? For example, the green sector is a part of the market currently seeing growth. Avoid any business which occupies a market sector which is contracting.

4. Does this company do business in an ethical manner? Are they a company with a good reputation, or have they just come out of nowhere suddenly? You don't want to invest in a fly by night business which will disappear with your money.

5. Is comprehensive training available? A company requires knowledgeable, trained staff to increase sales and in turn make profits. A company that is willing to take the time to train staff to achieve success is taking a step in the right direction. If there isn't really any training to speak of, it will require a lot more 'trial and error' on your part in order to succeed.

6. Does the company provide support to its staff? Or do they only provide you with all the help you need until they have your money. You want to find a company which offers you the support you need on an ongoing basis.

7. Does this business align with your personal goals and interests? When you invest in a new business, you want to feel passionate about it. If you don't like it, you most likely won't make much money at it.

8. Can you get in touch with a real person at the company? Do they have an office you can visit? Are they responsive to emails or calls? You don't want to get involved with any company which will not get back to you to answer questions.

9. Are other people actually having success with this business model? You want to talk to as many business owners as possible before you decide to invest. Don't just read the testimonials the company shows you. Actually talk to real business owners.

10. Do you have a gut feeling about the company one way or the other? If you have a bad feeling about this company, listen to your instincts and stay away from this opportunity.

With a little luck and a lot of determination, you can be successful in your new business opportunity, as long as it meets the criteria given above. Before signing on to any business opportunity, check it against the list provided and make sure that it is the right business for you. - 15485
