Using Directories To Recruit Affiliates

By Charles McDuffie

Are you finding it difficult to recruit affiliates for your particular program or opportunity? If so, one method you should consider in attracting them is having your affiliate program posted in as many directories as possible. These directories usually won't cost you anything to have your program listed, but there are certain guidelines you'll have to meet.

There are roughly 40 such directories where you can list your program, and that's where your program should be if you want affiliates to find you, instead of you chasing them. It also helps if your program is listed under the appropriate category.

The Directories

Once you decide to list your affiliate program with the directories, if it has anything to do with gambling or adult content in any way, shape or form; it'll most likely get rejected. Therefore it wouldn't be a wise investment of your time and effort, in an attempt to get listed with them.

Affiliate programs that pay on more than 2 levels, are a red flag to getting listed in the directories, and is something that should be avoided. Now let's look at some other issues for recruiting affiliates.

Tips To Help You Get Listed

Before you submit your particular affiliate program to the directories, make certain you've first met any and all the requirements they've established for acceptance. You want this process to be as smooth and comfortable as possible, so be sure you're prepared. After you've submitted your requests to be listed, your requests will then be reviewed by the editors of each directory you've applied to. Here are some factors to keep in mind as you begin this process.

It goes without saying that your program should be ready to go, and that both your sign on page, and sales are being logged. Any spelling and/or grammatical errors should be corrected, and your logos and banners should be visible.

Your site should have an affiliate information page. This page should carry a brief description about your product or service. It should clearly state the terms and conditions of your program. Commission and payment terms should be clearly specified and it should have a link to your home page. This is the most crucial point of how to recruit affiliates.

Listing your affiliate program under the right category is of prime importance, if you're going to be successful in recruiting them to promote your opportunity. Be sure you've chosen the most appropriate category for what you're offering.

The data that you're supposed to submit with your request should be ready. URL, program description, and commission rates are some of the data that you would need to submit.

Make sure you've chosen the correct keywords for your program.

Getting your program listed in the various affiliate directories, will indeed go a long way towards helping you to recruit more affiliates. However, getting your program listed under the most appropriate category for your particular program, will have you recruiting more affiliates than you can possible handle. - 15485
