Celebrate The Holidays With An Old Fashioned Country Christmas

There is something really special about having a down home Country Christmas. . Even if you were raised in the city, an old fashioned country Christmas can really make things special for the holidays.

Decorating your home in country Christmas dcor is not all that hard. There are plenty of ways that you can bring a little country to your home this holiday season without breaking your budget. It is also a great way to get the kids involved in the holiday fun.

One thing you will notice about country decorating is that it is more rustic yet has a lot of charm. Try to bring some of that charm into your home by keeping things simple.

One way that you can achieve this is by making some or all of the decorations yourself. Something as simple as a few ornaments cut out of felt and festive red plaid then hung on the tree will make a warm and welcoming statement to anyone that sees them.

Have the kids help trace and cut out simple holiday shapes such as stars. Use pinking sheers for some of them, which will give them a cute pattern. In country decorating things don't have to be perfect and the little imperfections will just make it that much more special.

Use cranberries and popcorn and string to make a garland for an old fashioned country Christmas tree. Be sure to use a popcorn popper so you can have oil free popcorn. After the holidays you can even put the garland outside for a treat for the birds Just be sure to throw away the string when it is empty so that the birds and animals don't get hurt. Do you have a pretty Christmas quilt? Why keep it hidden in a bedroom where nobody will see it? Try draping it over a table to use as a beautiful tablecloth for the holidays.

If you are throwing a country Christmas party consider making some handmade invitations. Get the kids involved by cutting out holiday pictures and gluing on the front of a piece of folded construction paper. Or. let them draw Christmas scenes on the front of each card with markers or crayons.

There are so many fun ways to decorate your home and give it an old fashioned country feel. Just remember safety first, keep your tree well watered and keep candles away from flammables such as decorations as well as small children and pets.
