Because people couldn't afford them, they went without medical care, prescription medicines, mental health care and dental and vision care. Many people said had they had insurance, they would have taken care of these items.
It is important to keep in mind that many of the uninsured and underinsured in our country are children and the elderly, and they are probably the people who need these services the most. As a country we need to put an end to this suffering, because with as many advances as have been made in health care, there should not be anyone who is denied medical care even routine medical care.
Taking care of the people in our Nation needs to be a top priority. We need to stop looking the other way and sending money and food and supplies to foreign countries as if they are disadvantaged. As long as there are people in this country that are living without the basics of solid health care and their basic necessities like food being met, then we need to fix our own country first and then we can look to help others.
