What To Think About when Buying a Slim Digital Camera

By Lee Dobbins

Everything is getting smaller these days. Cars, computers, camcorders, and yes even cameras are getting smaller. This is to make things easier for you to take them with you. The big bulky cameras are great for professional photographers. For those of us that like to take a lot of pictures of family events and holidays, the small ones are great.

The slim digital cameras come as small as 2 by 2 inches and can be carried on your keychain. These keychain cameras are pretty cool. They are there at times you do not usually have a camera with you and you can catch some great photo opportunities that would otherwise have been lost. The picture quality is not high end in most cases, but they are good enough to get the picture and send it in email to everyone that you know.

These tiny cameras actually take surprisingly nice photos for their size. Teens would love them for when they are with their friends. They can catch a first baby step, a photo after a fender bender. Whatever you can use them for they will be enjoyed. It is a good first camera for a child because the cost can be minimal. The cost runs between 10.00 and 60.00 or more depending on the features and maker of the camera. Most are no frill just aim and shoot.

The compact camera market has taken over the camera industry. These are popular because they offer so many features and most have good picture quality. Remember when you had to carry that big bulky camera to every event? The film and flash bulbs and extra batteries had to be packed too. This is not true today. You only have to use the big cameras if you want to.

Compact cameras offer features like red eye reduction, face recognition, and large LCD screens. These all help you to take better pictures. They are generally easy to use, and picture quality is great. Some offer night vision so even at night your pictures will look good.

There are auto focus features and for those who like to zoom in on things they have a zoom lens and a macro mode. Some of them can even be used as audio and video cameras. They take SD cards to increase memory, no need for a roll of film and possibly losing all of your pictures.

The batteries are usually rechargeable which saves money on replacing them. My favorite feature is the large LCD screens. They come in many sizes, but typically 2-2.5 inch screens are used. This is great for those that cannot see well through the view finder. These mini cameras come with most everything you could need or want. They are small enough to keep in a glove compartment or carry in a purse, and yes even a pocket. Buy the model that has the features that you need at a price you can afford. - 15485
