Handmade and homemade Christmas ornaments are some of my favorite ornaments to trim the Christmas tree. Each year that we hang our ornaments with my children's pictures, it brings back fond memories and I remember the times when my children were much younger.
Let me share a few simple Christmas photo ornaments you can make. Even your preschool child could make the first one, so it is a great holiday craft idea for preschoolers.
Christmas Tree
With a 3 inch paper tree outline, cut a 1/8 inch green tree from spongeboard. Your child can now participate in decorating here. Use a hole punch to get many, brightly colored dots from spongeboard. These dots can then be glued by your youngster to the tree as ornaments.
Next, cut 1/2 inch hole towards the bottom of the green tree. Tape your photo to the back so the picture shows through the hole. Add a red curling ribbon loop to the top of the tree.
Cheap and simple, these splendid holiday craft ideas for preschoolers are a must for any budget-conscious individual. Let your kids make one for each family member. For that personalized touch, let each child write his name and age on the back with a black felt pen.
Felt Bells
My son's first Mother's Day Out teacher gave me one of my favorite Christmas ornaments using photos. His teacher cut blue felt in the shape of a three inch tall bell. A smaller white bell was also cut. She placed a hole in the middle for the photo.
Glue the photo to the white felt so the picture shows through the hole. Place the white bell on top of the blue one so you see a blue border around the white bell.
Decorate the edges of the white felt with glitter glue pen. Make an opening in the bell top and thread blue ribbon to make a loop.
You're almost finished. Cut blue poster the same size and shape as the blue bell. Glue it to the back to stiffen the holiday Christmas ornament. Attach a small jingle bell to the bottom of the ornament. My son's teacher wrote his name and the year on the back.
Tada! These splendid holiday craft ideas for preschoolers add life to your Christmas tree this year. Now you can admire your child's handmade ornament. - 15485
